Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate the amount of grass I need?
When calculating the quantity of grass required, you need to take into account the following parameters
- ROLL WIDTH - all rolls (except for RTP815) are 4.00 meters wide
- DIRECTION - the different pieces must all be laid in the same direction, otherwise there will be a visual difference in color
- BEST DIRECTION - To achieve the best effect, lay the turf in such a way that the blades of grass are facing you when you are in the position from which you usually look at the lawn.
- NET AND gross- the amount you need is usually more than the net arithmetic area of the site. This is due to the points listed above that you should take into account.
On this PDF you can see how to proceed to calculate the quantities:
Is it not clear, or do you struggle with it! No problem at all. Contact us and we will be happy to calculate the quantities for you and draw up the laying plan.
These tips will help you choose the right artificial grass
The very best way to choose the grass for your dream garden or terrace? That is by visiting our show garden. All the varieties we offer - and there are many - can be discovered on a large surface in our show garden (ca. 3000m²). Here you can not only see, but also feel how the end result can be! If this is difficult or if you can't come by immediately, here are a few tips to help you make your choice.
- Use : If you walk a lot in your garden or terrace, or if your dogs or children often play in your garden, it is better to choose a grass whose use indicates 'frequent walking'. For really intensive use (several dogs / playgrounds / ...) you are better off with a grass that is indicated with 'play zones' as its use. If you choose artificial grass because you want your garden to always look its best and you make normal use of your lawn, it is sufficient to choose a grass with the indication 'little traffic'. If you aim for a sports function, choose the respective sports application between soccer, tennis, golf, play area.
- Color & type : It is important to choose a color palette and look that you like. Our artificial grass lasts about 15 years, so you better choose the grass you like to see. Three aspects are important:
- The pile height : The longer / higher the blades, the more comfortable it feels. If the blades are a little longer, the grass will also be a little messier and wilder, giving it a less homogeneous look and therefore a more natural look.
- The color : pastel green, rather olive green, slightly darker or a fresh green spring lawn.
In the detailed description of each grass type, you'll find a brief description so you can get a bit of an idea.
- Maintenance : If you live in an area with a lot of pollution (woody areas), it is best to choose a shorter grass type so that you can more easily remove leaves, seeds, etc. Read our maintenance tips here.

Does artificial grass need to be cleaned?
Artificial grass does not require much maintenance, but regular cleaning will extend the life of your artificial grass.
- Remove organic material such as leaves, seeds, etc. regularly with a (plastic) rake, brush or leaf blower.
- The rain washes most of the dirt away, but once a year a thorough cleaning with the garden hose or a pressure washer is recommended. This can also be done with a powerful industrial vacuum cleaner.
- Brush up long or soft artificial grass fibres now and then so that the blades of grass stand up straight.
- Dog, cat and bird faeces do not cause discoloration. For hygienic reasons, however, it is advisable to remove them regularly if they are not washed away by the rain. However, this will not harm the artificial grass.
- Refill grass types with quartz sand and/or rubber granules annually and carry out a major maintenance every 5 years by filtering and filling in the granules again.
- If moss or weeds do appear as a result of organic material left behind, you can easily remove them using a normal and not too aggressive moss or weed killer.
- You can also always call on the installation team of Resigrass for a cleaning or periodic maintenance. Ask for a quotation without engagement at info@Resigrass.com or call us 03 290 35 93
How durable is artificial grass
Depending on the intensity of use, artificial grass for gardens and other applications lasts 12 to 15 years under normal use. It does not really wear out but is usually replaced for aesthetic reasons.
For professional sports or intensive use the life span can be estimated at 8-12 years. Although the fibers are obviously not completely worn out, they will no longer meet the strict technical requirements of the federations.
Does artificial turf add value to real estate?
Artificial grass adds significant value to any real estate property and its image:
- It enhances the image of your property through its evergreen and beautiful appearance,
- It is attractive due to its very low maintenance,
- Its quality, natural look and ease of use surprise every visitor.
Can slopes be covered with artificial grass?
As long as it is an even slope, there is no problem in laying out a site with artificial grass. On steeper slopes, it is advisable to anchor at least the top with galvanized nails that can be applied invisibly.
What happens to pet and bird feces on the artificial grass?
You don't have to worry about pet feces:
- Small droppings break down naturally and disappear through the perforations of the tufted fabric with each rainfall.
- For hygienic reasons it is recommended to remove larger amounts of droppings manually, or possibly with a garden hose or pressure washer as with natural grass.
- There is no discoloration as a result of the droppings
Can artificial turf be installed around existing trees?
Artificial grass can be cut out in any shape, including around the trunk of an existing tree.
- Just as cutouts can be provided in the artificial turf before laying, the shape of existing trunks is simply followed. The rainwater seeps through the artificial turf so that the plants do not die.
- If the trunk becomes larger, then you cut away an extra piece of artificial grass around the trunk.
Is artificial turf fireproof?
Artificial turf will not catch fire immediately. However, melting or scorch marks can occur due to:
- Hot coals from the barbecue when in direct contact with the artificial grass.
- Leaving your garden hose filled with water in the grass at high temperatures, so always remove the garden hose from your lawn.
- Avoid heat sources on artificial turf to prevent melting and scorching
- Watch out for reflection through glass and/or windows (magnifying glass effect)
- Resigrass also has a number of grades with fibers that are fire retardant and meet certain fire standards, ideal for real estate and events. Contact us for more information or look under fire retardant artificial grass
Does artificial turf get hot?
Artificial grass does get warmer than natural grass in high outdoor temperatures, but it stays cooler than concrete, tiles, sand, ...., etc. In addition, natural grass withers in prolonged high temperatures and drought (heat waves), leaving only a sandy layer that also gets warm (unless you spray a lot of expensive water on your lawn). Artificial grass is widely used in Southern Europe, the Emirates and other countries where average temperatures are much higher than ours. So in case of prolonged heat and drought, it's best to do something about your feet.
- For the ordinary average Belgian summer days, artificial grass is great to walk on barefoot!
- Artificial grass that is not scattered, such as the Resigrass qualities for landscaping, does not get as hot as the scattered varieties. This is mainly due to the fact that the rubber particles of the infill material are much more sensitive to heat and contribute more to heating. We do not use these (unless at the explicit request of the customer for certain soccer turf)
- Most artificial grasses consist of Polyethylene and/or Polypropylene. The melting point of these plastics is between 120°C and 160°C, but it is true that their mechanical properties diminish from a temperature of about 80°C. The low temperatures as in our region do not pose a problem.
- Do you have children or pets? Then consider an RGE01 c or RGE02 c: these artificial grasses absorb dew and moisture particles from the environment and retain them. At higher temperatures, the grass will "sweat," causing it to cool itself just as we do on hot days. As a result, the grass always feels cooler than other artificial grasses.
Is artificial turf suitable for dogs or cats
Dogs and cats are particular fans of Resigrass. Artificial grass is ideal for your garden if you have animals. You as the owner will also be extremely satisfied because there are numerous advantages to artificial grass for you and your pet:
- Resistant to excrement of your pet
- Unlike natural grass, our artificial turf will not discolour due to droppings but will always remain beautiful green
- In the absence of organic material, your dog or cat will not dig anymore
- So no more bare sandy patches and mud pools in your garden
- In short, for a little educated pet, Resigrass in your garden is the absolute solution for an always green and beautiful lawn.
Shouldn't artificial turf be installed on a stabilizer?
"Why does Resigrass install on a sod bed?" This is probably one of the most common questions in our showroom. A lot of colleagues claim that artificial grass has to be installed on a stabilizer.
As far as we are concerned, technically speaking this is certainly possible, provided it does not infringe on the applicable legal regulations concerning the paving of the site. After all, artificial grass is a 'carpet' and can be installed on different types of surface. Stablisé, wood, concrete, tiles, soil etc. We advise you to ask your local authority for the necessary information should you wish to install artificial turf on a paved surface. But, we repeat, this is really not necessary and also makes a project unnecessarily expensive.
When it comes to the installation of artificial turf in a garden, our recommendation is to do this on a sand bed (or comparable type of sand such as crushed sand).
We are happy to explain why:
- No planning permission is required, whereas stabilization (considered as paving) requires a building permit
- Reversibility - if you want to plant a corner, for example, you can simply cut off a piece of artificial grass, replace the top layer with soil and start planting. With stabilization, you need to do some demolition work.
- A sodding bed is cheaper than a stabilizing bed
- Stabilization is not necessarily needed in a garden. A natural lawn is also laid on black sand, which is even less stable than the top layer of sulfur, which is also finely leveled (taut) and compacted. In other words, it is an excellent compromise between black sand and stabilized soil and offers sufficient stability for the normal use of a lawn.
- Water permeability remains guaranteed - the sub-layer is sand and our artificial grass lets through 30 to 60 liters of water/minute/m².
- If after a number of years some subsidence does occur, you can simply loosen the grass mat, fill up the subsoil and re-prime it, reattach the mat and you're done! With a stabilizer, this process is a lot more difficult.
A substrate in sulfur therefore only has advantages over a stabilizer and is also more environmentally friendly. We have been installing artificial turf in this way for almost 20 years to the satisfaction of our customers!
Cost of artificial turf versus natural grass
Is it expensive to install artificial turf? Having your lawn installed in artificial grass is an investment. This is because at the beginning you pay the full amount that artificial grass will cost for the rest of its life. The average lifespan is about 15 years. It is therefore often said that artificial turf is more expensive than natural grass. But is that really the case?
The calculation example below shows that this is not the case. To do the comparison correctly, you must take into account that the maintenance of a natural lawn is done in a way that produces a similar end result as an artificial lawn. That is, a well-maintained lawn that is done according to the rules of the art so that it always looks good and beautiful. No bare spots, moss, weeds or burnt grass, but a fresh green lawn that looks healthy.
In our example, we have based ourselves on a number of cost price parameters that you can find on various platforms and have taken average values from them.
For a 150 m2 garden, including the full installation, you pay on average €73 / m2 (in our example we base ourselves on RGP517). The lifespan of an artificial lawn is on average 15 years. So that comes down to an average investment cost of €730/year.
Cost of a beautiful and well-maintained lawn in natural grass
Is artificial grass installation expensive? Having your lawn installed in artificial grass is an investment. This is because you pay in one go the full amount that artificial grass will cost for the rest of its life. On average, the lifespan is around 15 years. It is therefore often said that artificial grass is more expensive than natural grass. But is this really true?
The calculation example below shows that it is not. To do the comparison correctly, you do have to take into account the fact that maintenance of a natural lawn is done in a way that gives a similar end result as an artificial turf lawn. That is, a well-maintained lawn that is done according to the rules of art so that it always looks good and beautiful. No bare spots, moss, weeds or burnt grass, but a fresh green lawn that looks healthy.
In our example, we based ourselves on a number of cost price parameters you can find on various platforms and took average values from them.
For a 150 m2 garden, including full installation, you pay an average of €83 / m2 (in our example, we base ourselves on RGP517). The lifespan of an artificial grass lawn is 15 years on average. So that amounts to an average investment cost of €830/year.
Cost for a beautiful and well-maintained natural grass lawn
Laying a natural lawn costs on average € 10.00/m2 (including soil preparation) and you can assume that you will have to renew it at least once in 15 years. In other words, you have to reckon with a cost of €200/year.
To this you have to add the costs of maintenance (mowing, fertilising, scarifying, annual major maintenance, watering, waste removal, weed or pest control, etc.). If you do this properly to get the intended result, you will spend at least about €3,530 at the end of the year. After all, lawn is not a natural but a cultivated material and therefore requires a lot of work and care (money). Thus, a natural lawn, properly maintained, with a nice result will cost you around €3,630 annually.
Conclusion
Based on the above example, you have recouped the investment of an artificial grass lawn in 3.5 years while its lifespan is 15 years on average. Even if you were to spend only €1,000 a year - which is definitely too little for a well-maintained and beautifully fresh-green lawn - you will recuperate the investment in 12 years while artificial grass lasts 15 years on average. So still cheaper, but without the headaches and work.
How to install on different surfaces.
Installation
General installation guide
In principle, artificial grass can be installed on any surface, as long as a few basic rules are observed. Installing Resigrass yourself is absolutely not difficult and our team is ready to answer your questions.
Every surface becomes immediately beautiful with artificial grass and requires very limited maintenance. You can very quickly transform outdated and cracked tile floors, unfinished concrete floors or rough surfaces, to which filth attaches itself all too quickly, into a beautiful green lawn.
Small irregularities can be eliminated with Resibase: a shock absorbing undermat. This way you can avoid the breakout of structures and the high costs associated with a complete renovation.
You can request an installation Quote.
If you would like to carry out the installation yourself, you can! We have prepared a handy instruction manual for you below:
What you need:
- Resigrass
- RESIBASE, RESIGEO or RESISHOCK
- RESITAPE or RESIBAND + RESIGLUE
- RESIFIX or RESINAIL
- SHARP CUTTER KNIFE
- FOR THE SOIL please see the adjacent instructions
INSTALL Resigrass IN THREE SIMPLE STEPS
- Substrate preparation
-
To enjoy your Resigrass for many carefree years, a proper preparation of the surface is absolutely necessary. The artificial grass can only be fully appreciated on a smooth and even terrain.
-
There are different types of surface that you can take into account, more information about the right approach per type of substrate can be found on the left. Is something not clear or do you have any questions? Contact us.

- Install intermediate layer
Once you have the soil nice and even and compact, you continue with the intermediate layer. This is usually necessary, but can be omitted in certain cases. There are a number of types:
-
RESIGEO : this is a woven pressure-distributing textile cloth and is absolutely necessary on unpaved or semi-paved ground to prevent weeds from growing through the perforated grass. ResiGeo is delivered on rolls and is easy to roll out over the prepared surface. Each roll should overlap the next so that no gaps or crevices are formed.
-
RESIBASE: this layer of synthetic material is ideal to be used on (semi) paved surfaces with the following important characteristics
-
Increases comfort : a lawn is not located on a concrete or hard surface. With this intermediate layer, you obtain a 'softer' surface, which gives a much more comfortable feeling.
-
Weed resistant : just like ResiGeo, this layer prevents weeds from growing through the grass.
-
Water buffer : a paved or concrete surface does not absorb water, which can cause flooding during heavy rainfall. With this intermediate layer, you create a buffer that ensures a gradual drainage of the rainwater. On roofs, for example, this is a highly desirable effect.
-
Evening out small irregularities: ResiBase is a flexible material that absorbs small irregularities in the subsoil (e.g. uneven or broken tiles, joints, etc.).
ResiBase is delivered in sheets of 1 x 1m or in rolls of 1.7m. Standard thickness is 6-10mm. Place the sheets well against each other and if necessary put a strip of ResiGeo on the seams.
-
RESISHOCK : a specially designed system that can be placed where a shock absorbing effect is required like playgrounds, recreation areas etc. Resigrass has HIC certified systems for the construction of public areas that have to meet these standards. Our experts will be happy to inform you about this in detail. ResiShock is delivered in sheets of 2 x 1.5 m. The thickness is variable in function of the HIC standard to be followed. Put the sheets well against each other and if necessary put a strip of ResiGeo on the seams.
-
- Install Resigrass
Once the substrate has been properly prepared , laying the artificial grass is fairly simple. To ensure a smooth installation, it is advisable to draw up a plan first. We will be happy to draw up this for you free of charge if you wish. The following should be taken into account during installation:
-
In order to ensure good adhesion of the adhesive, the ambient temperature should be at least 12 to 15° C and it should not rain.
-
All strips of grass should be laid in the same direction in order to achieve the best visual result.
-
The blades always point in a certain direction (visible when unrolling). Make sure that the blades are facing you when you are on the place from where you can usually see the grass (terrace, house, etc.).
First lay out the strips according to the laying plan and make sure that the seams fit nicely. Use a sharp sturdy cutter knife (type Stanley) to cut the grass to size. Avoid cutting through the blades of grass: only make cuts on the backing of the grass: it is best to lay the mat upside down or fold it over.
Make sure that the distance between the rows of knots on the two rolls is the same as the distance between the rows of knots on the mats itself. If not, cut off one or both rows of knots (tufting line) along the length.
Once you laid the strips nicely next to each other, fold the grass mat lengthwise inwards by about 15 cm. In this way, you can put the ResiTape or ResiBand in place to make the seams.
After placing the tape underneath, fold the grass over again and press the seams firmly against each other and against the tape.
Do not touch the grass mat for at least 24 hours once you glued the seams, to allow them to bond.
Finally, attach the grass mats to the sub-floor in the manner described (see the various installation options) using ResiFix or ResiNail.
It is possible that after installation the grass mat will shrink or expand under the influence of temperature. This is perfectly normal. It can easily be remedied:
-
When expanded: loosen the grass mat at the perimeter, pull it tight again and carefully cut off any excess.
-
When shrunk: when installing at the outer edges of the site, make sure not to cut the turf too narrowly so that no openings or gaps appear in the event of any shrinkage. If the turf shrinks then there is room for this. In this case, loosen the fasteners so that the mat can 'relax', and then pull them tight again.
In order to get the blades of grass nice and straight, we recommend brushing the grass with a rough brush against the direction of the grass a couple of days after installation.
-
Well drained soil such as sand
For the installation of Resigrass on well-drained soil, work as described below:
- Prepare the soil
-
Dig out the existing (natural) grass to the black soil (entire sward including roots - approx. 3 to 5 cm depending on the situation). Also ensure that any roots of grasses, plants or shrubs are completely removed.
-
Level the surface for the first time (does not have to be perfect), eliminating any major unevenness.
-
Apply a 'foundation layer' of a solid, permeable sand such as loamy sand. We work with a layer of approx. 3 cm as standard, which corresponds to approx. 25 kg/m2.If you want to make the whole surface higher, you apply another material for the embankment such as sand, rubble, etc. before the foundation layer of loamy sand.
-
After application, the layer of sand should be evened and then compacted or compacted to obtain a smooth, flat substrate.
-
- Apply an intermediate layer
-
Apply the Resigeo, Resibase or ResiShock as described under "General Installation".
-
- Install Resigrass
-
The artificial grass is installed as described under 'General Installation".
-
To fix the grass mat and anchor it to the subfloor, ResiFix is used, which must be installed every metre over the entire perimeter of the site. This is done by making a small incision in the grass mat, leaving the knife in place and pushing the ResiFix along the blade of the knife into the incision made and well into the backing of the grass mat.
-
Poorly permeable soil, such as clay and loamy soil
For the installation of Resigrass on poorly permeable soil, work as described below:
- Prepare the substrate
-
Dig up the existing turf to the black soil (complete turf incl. roots - approx. 3 to 5 cm depending on the situation). Make sure that any roots of grasses, plants or shrubs have been well and completely removed.
-
Roughly level the surface, eliminating large unevennesses
-
Apply a 'foundation layer' of a solid, permeable sand such as yellow loamy sand. We work with a layer of approx. 3 cm, which corresponds to approx. 25 kg/m2. If you would like to lay the grass higher, you will need to raise the level with your chosen material (sand, rubble, etc.) prior to laying the 'foundation'.
-
The layer of sand should then be leveled and then compacted or compacted so that you obtain a smooth, flat substrate.
-
- Apply an intermediate layer
-
For a poorly draining substrate, we recommend using ResiBase as an intermediate layer. It acts as a 'delaying' buffer in case of heavy rain. Apply it as described under “ General Installation”.
-
- Install Resigrass
-
The grass is installed as described under “General Installation”.
-
To fix the grass mat and anchor it to the subsoil, ResiFix is used. You have to apply ResiFix at least on every meter of the complete perimeter of your terrain.
-
Make a small incision in the grass mat, leave the blade on and slide the ResiFix along the blade into the incision made and press it well into the backing of the grass mat.
-
Concrete, tiles, wooden floors,...
- Prepare the substrate
-
Make sure the surface is as even as possible
-
Small irregularities can be compensated for by using ResiBase.
-
- Apply an intermediate layer
-
We advise to use an intermediate coat with ResiBase as described above. ResiGeo can also be used in certain cases, but the use of ResiBase is preferred.
-
- Install Resigrass
-
The grass is installed as described under “General Installation”.
-
To fix the grass and anchor it to the soil, ResiNail or ResiGlue should be used, applying them at least every meter over the entire perimeter of the pitch. ResiNails can be easily nailed into the ground. ResiNail is a thick steel galvanized nail of the highest quality.
-
On a wooden floor, you can also use screws to secure everything.
-
Resigrass is a valuable alternative for classic green roofs for several reasons:
-
Cheaper
-
Insulating capacity
-
Buffer for (excessive) rain in combination with ResiBase so you can meet the often imposed requirements by the government
-
Beautiful and walkable in contrast to extensive green roofs
-
Durable
Resigrass has been active in the industry for more than 10 years and has developed a total installation concept based on the experience gained, that delivers good results.
We like to share this expertise and help you on your way with the following tips.
For the installation of Resigrass on a roof or paved surface (concrete, tiles, wood, stabilisé,...) work as described below. Follow the working method described above with the following points of attention:
- Prepare the substrate
-
Make sure the surface is as even as possible
-
Small unevennesses can be absorbed by the use of ResiBase.
-
We recommend applying an intermediate layer of ResiBase as described above under Installation. ResiGeo can also be used in some cases, but the use of ResiBase is preferred.
-
- Apply intermediate layer
-
On roof terraces we advise to use ResiBase because of the advantages mentioned above.
-
On roofs with roofing, EPDM or comparable protective layers, the use of ResiBase is absolutely necessary to avoid possible damage to the roofing.
-
- Install Resigrass
-
The grass is installed as described under “General Installation”.
-
In order to fix the grass and anchor it to the subsoil, ResiNail or ResiGlue are used, applying them at least every meter over the entire perimeter of your pitch. These can easily be nailed into the ground. ResiNail is a thick steel galvanized nail of the highest quality. Special attention when applying the Resinail
-
If the substrate consists of roofing, EPDM or another roof protection material, the use of ResiNail is not suitable. In that case, we recommend using ResiGlue. The nice thing about artificial grass is that it can be beautifully installed against raised edges.
-
On a wooden surface, you can also fix it with wood screws or ResiGlue. For tile laying, it is also best to use ResiGlue.
-

Installation on sports pitches
The installation of artificial turf on a sports pitch is basically no different than for a garden. What is particularly important when installing sports pitches is the preparation of the subterrain. This has to be done carefully, as is the case with natural grass.
Important points of attention are:
-
Good drainage
-
The right foundation (gravel, drainage sand, lava, lava sand,...)
-
Adapted underlayer (ResiShock, ResiBase,...)
-
Choice of infill material (or none)
-
Maintenance of the pitch
Resigrass provides your sports field with high quality artificial grass products that last many years, both for professional and private use.
For the installation of professional sports fields, we work with companies that are specialized in the construction of the substrate. For the construction of a tennis court, a training ground for ball games or a putting green in the garden or for the local association, you can always contact our team. We will be happy to help you determine the right choice. We also offer a number of solutions that require no infill, which significantly reduces maintenance.
“Shouldn't artificial grass be laid on cemented sand? “ is probably one of the most asked questions. It is simultaneously one of the biggest misconceptions out there. Because the answer is no. Since the beginning, Resigrass has always been used and advised to install on a gravel or loamy sand bed? Why?
-
No building permit required, whereas stabilization (considered as paving) does require one
-
Reversibility - if you want to plant a corner, for example, you simply cut off a piece of artificial grass, replace the top layer of silt with cultivated earth and you can start planting. Stabilizers require breaking.
-
Cheaper
-
Stabilization is not necessarily necessary in a garden. Even natural lawns are laid on black sand, which is even less stable than the top layer of sulfur that is also finely leveled and compacted. In other words, it is an excellent compromise between black sand and stabilized soil and offers sufficient stability for normal lawn use.
-
Water permeability is guaranteed - the underlayer is sand and our artificial grass lets through 30 to 60 liters of water/minute/m².
-
If some subsidence should occur after a few years (this also happens with a stabilizer, but a little later), you can simply loosen the turf, fill up the subsoil and shingle it again, reattach the mat and you're done!
We have been installing artificial turf in this way for almost 20 years to the satisfaction of our customers.
Best practices for your products
Where do you need to pay attention when you have installed artificial grass?
Before installation
-
Carefully remove all roots, plants, greenery, weeds and the like. Pay special attention to invasive vegetation such as bamboo, reed, and similar varieties. Make sure that these are completely dug out.
-
If you are in an area where there are moles, voles or other burrowers, you should ensure that there are systems installed to keep them away. For more information, you can contact our employees. In any case, Resigrass cannot be held responsible for subsidence of installed artificial grass caused by natural phenomena, by animals rummaging the surface, storm damage and so on. For this purpose, we refer explicitly to our General Terms and Conditions.
-
Fill subsidences, cavities, uneven areas and make sure that the ground is at the proper level. Keep in mind any border stones.
-
Make sure there are no pipes, cables or roof covering that can be damaged when securing the turf and clearly indicate which space is available for the use of nails or other attachment material. Resigrass is not responsible for any damage to the surface if you have not informed us in writing of the presence of infrastructure that can possibly be damaged and/or the precautionary measures to be taken in that context.
Right after installation
-
Avoid walking on the artificial grass for a minimum of 24 hours after the installation so that the glue can harden and to prevent the seams from coming apart.
-
One week after the installation, brush against the blades of the artificial grass with a hard brush.
In order to prevent damage
-
Do not leave any garden hose filled with water lying on the grass during hot summer days. Be attentive for reflections of sunlight caused by windows, glass domes etc. Those might cause melting of the fibers due to the magnifying-glass effect when the melting point (75° - 80°C) is reached.
-
Do not push chairs and tables over the turf. This action can work like "knives" and cut off the blades of grass, just like natural grass would also become damaged.
-
Be careful when using BBQs or other sources of heat. Place sources of heat preferably elsewhere and not on the artificial grass in order to avoid melt spots.
-
Ensure regular and appropriate maintenance according to the use and the application.
Keep your carpet in its best shape
Maintenance
General maintenance
Artificial grass does not require much maintenance but regular cleaning will prolong the life of your artificial grass
-
Regularly remove organic material such as leaves, seeds, etc. with a rake, brush or possibly a leaf blower.
-
The rain washes away most of the dirt, but once a year a thorough cleaning with the garden hose or a pressure washer is recommended. An industrial vacuum cleaner is ideal for thoroughly removing the residual layer built up over the years.
-
Brush up long or soft artificial grass fibres every now and then with a hard sweeping brush so that the blades of grass stand up straight.
-
Dog, cat and bird faeces do not cause discoloration. For hygienic reasons, it is advisable to remove these regularly if they are not washed away by the rain.

If moss or weeds have formed as a result of organic material left behind, you can easily remove them with a normal and not too aggressive moss killer
-
For deep cleaning you can also buy the Resiclean organic emulsion: this removes the deeper lying particles in an ecological manner.
-
Any stubborn dirt can be removed with a mild detergent (soapy water) and a sponge.
Specific maintenance
Most types of Resigrass do not need to be filled in. However, soccer turf that is infilled with quartz sand and/or rubber granules requires some extra attention, in addition to normal maintenance (see maintenance of non-infilled artificial turf):
-
Annual replenishment of the infill material
-
Every 5 years carry out a major maintenance by filtering, cleaning and re-increasing the infill material
-
Quartz sand is organic material, so it can possibly form a breeding ground for moss or weeds. This can be easily removed with a not too aggressive moss or weed killer.
Minor repairs
First aid for artificial turf
Sometimes an accident does happen and your grass surface is slightly damaged. Don't panic, this is another example of the advantage of an artificial lawn. Always keep a remnant after the installation so you can use it for possible repairs.
How do I repair a damaged piece of artificial turf?
Supplies
- Remainder of the originally installed Resigrass
- sharp cutter knife
- ResiTape
Working method
-
Cut out the damaged piece of artificial grass in a circle. This must be done carefully to avoid cutting through the blades of grass. TIP: use a round lid and cut the damaged piece out of the turf along its edge. To obtain exactly the same shape and size of the grass to be replaced, use the same lid.
-
Use the removed piece as a template to cut a similar shaped piece out of your leftover Resigrass
-
Place the 'new' piece of Resigrass in the cut out circle of your turf
-
Rotate the replacement piece until its blades are in the same direction as your turf
-
Take the replacement piece out and place it - in the correct laying direction - next to the part to be repaired.
-
Apply ResiTape under the existing grass mat.
-
Place the Resigrass replacement - with the blades in the right direction - on the ResiTape and press firmly.
-
Leave the repaired part undisturbed for about 12 hours so that the glue can bond well.
